There is a stone gate at the entrance of the Karimata village, and behind it, there is a large Fukugi grove that blocks the wind. Behind the Karimata village, there is the Karimata plant community, which is designated as a natural monument by the city, and natural forests spread. The Karimata plant community has a unique flora that is not found in Okinawa Island or the Yaeyama Islands. The coast of Karimata has shipwrecks and coral reefs, which are spots for diving and snorkeling. The Karimata area is a place where you can feel the history of coexistence between nature and humans. 狩俣地域は、宮古島の北端にある歴史と文化の深い集落です。狩俣集落の入り口には、石門があり、その奥には、大きなフクギ群が風を防いでいます。狩俣集落の後方には、市指定天然記念物の狩俣の植物群落があり、自然林が広がっています。狩俣の植物群落は、沖縄本島や八重山諸島には見られない、独自の植物相を持っています。狩俣の海岸には、沈船やサンゴ礁があり、ダイビングやシュノーケリングのスポットになっています。狩俣地域は、自然と人間の共生の歴史を感じることができる場所です。
